Day 16 – God Speaks to my Heart & a Cute DIY

October 16, 2018 by Patti 3 Comments

The Write 31 Days Challenge – 31 Days,Every Day,One Topic

Day 16

(day 1 starts here)

It is sometimes so hard doing this Write 31 Days thing because after I hit publish I tend remember things I wish I’d said. For instance, I wrote previously about my comment to the Pastor’s wife where I told her I hated women. I want to clarify something about that.

As I was in the shower this morning I thought about that statement again and I realized you might assume that my dislike of women (which no longer exists by the way) was all about the situation with Kelly and his “friend.” But it was a feeling long before that experience with my husband.

Early in my life I experienced betrayal by women, the most painful being women in my family of origin. I’m not sure there is anything that compares to family betrayal. Then there was the experience during my teen years where I experienced bullying by girls at school.

In addition to all that though, I myself am a betrayer. It is said that the thing you dislike about others is often a trait you possess yourself.  This is true in my case and, notorious sinner that I am, I have been that untrustworthy friend in the past and my dislike of women really included myself.

I’m SO thankful for the work He’s done inside my heart.

That said, now we can move on to Day 16. Today I’m going to share a bit more of my story through a link below but I also wanted to share with you another DIY.

Here is a BEFORE, sort of. I forgot to take a picture of the before so I scoured the Internet to find a similar wicker chair with a similar orangey color as the one I painted and recovered.

And here is the AFTER!  I used the same Pottery Barn finish as the small thrifted table I shared on Day 10. I also did this finish on a trestle table and in that post are the full instructions for making your own chalky finish paint.  The link to that DIY can be found HERE.

You’ll notice I used upholstery fabric with my favorite Blue Heron, which I have a special affinity for.

In the midst of all the HARD that was happening in my life when we first moved to our Olympia lake house, God spoke to me prophetically through a Blue Heron.  I wrote a post about that experience a few years back and, rather than re-write the whole thing, I’ll give you the link right HERE.

It was an extremely powerful experience in my life and it absolutely contributed to changing the course of my future. God’s prophetic promises (something I’ll teach on later in this series) imbue us with confidence and help us to stand, fight, and defeat the enemy of our souls.  I do hope you’ll take the time to read the post.

For today, I’ll end with one more picture of my favorite Blue Heron chair.  What a difference a little paint makes, yeah?

Tomorrow is Day 17, Calling in the Troops

Until then, be blessed my friend,

As much as I am enjoying your posts, I must say I LOVE that chair. Wish I had one just like it. You did a beautiful job on it as usual.
