Farragoz Special Offer

March 8, 2015 by Patti Leave a Comment

Hi my lovely creative friends! I’m stopping in to remind you that Farragoz, the Old World Painting course you’ve heard me sing the praises of, is offering a special discount for their online class from now through the end of March.  Instead of the regular $150 for this 12 month course, the special price for MY READERS is $99!

Farragoz Special Offer

I want you to know that THIS IS NOT A PAID POST.  I’ve been so thrilled with all I’ve learned from Farragoz that I want to share it with y’all (I just love that I get to say “y’all” now that I’m living in the South)!  Each project is unique (you can see the projects in the picture on my sidebar) and there is enough support along that way that even a beginner can do it.

If you’ve been “thinking about it” please click on the picture above to get more information.  The link above is the ONLY way to get to the special offer page.

Help! Which Color Should I Paint my Rocker?

February 27, 2015 by Patti 24 Comments

Rocking Chair Before 008

This chair is beautiful to me.  As a child I would sit rocking as I looked out at the water in from our lakefront cabin.  I would hold my hand just beneath my eyes to block out the cabin’s porch and the beach beyond so I could see only the water.   That made it easy to pretend that I was sitting on the deck of a cruise ship bound for distant lands.

Seriously, that’s what I did!

After years of being bounced from home to home and spending some time on the deck of our former lake house in Washington I was almost ready to take it off to the dump.

Rocking Chair 003

Almost . . . but not quite.

Along came Mr. OTN to the rescue!  My dear hubby has been removing old cane and glue from the channels, as well as removing the rusted screws that had broken off inside the chairs arms and bleaching away the black mold.  Now he’s ready to tackle the job of re-caning.  What a gift of love.

I’ve decided that my old rocker deserves some color and this is where you, the most brilliant readers in the world, come in.

The Porch is my Happy Place 001

We will be using the rocker on the screened porch which has neutral colored furniture and blue accents so I’d like to paint it in a blue tone.

Rocking Chair 005

These are the colors I’m considering:

  1. Duck Egg
  2. Greek Blue
  3. Provence
  4. A random color of Behr clearance paint

The color of my sample board is close to the color of the caning, which we aren’t painting, so you can see what the contrast would look like.  The colors here are a tad bit washed out but I had to brighten them up a lot so you could see the true color.

So what do you think?  What’s your favorite, one, two, three or four?  We hope to get to the painting this weekend so I’d absolutely love to hear your opinion!

Blessings to you,

My Signature

P.S. Just a reminder that Farragoz Old World Furniture Painting Course is offering a special rate to my readers now through the end of March. Instead of $150 for the course it is being offered for $99, an amazing value. Click the link below to register:

Farragoz Giveaway – And The Winner is . . .

February 23, 2015 by Patti 3 Comments

Were you one of those lucky girls that was chosen first for games in P.E.?  Or even second or third?  Or twenty-second in a class of thirty?  Insert Patti frowny face here because I was NOT.  On the bright side, I wasn’t usually the last either, only second or third to the last.  “Bashtiful Patti,” the neighbor man’s name for me, wasn’t very assertive so I was never a top pick for competitive sports.  Now, if we’d had to choose teams for art class . . . well . . .  I wouldn’t have been top pick for that team either but I would’ve been closer to the top for sure!  Awww . . . the traumas of childhood.

Repurposed “Jonque”

That is probably what’s behind my wanting everyone to be a winner of the Farragoz Giveaway I’ve been running on my blog. I’ve learned so many things in this painting course that I can now apply to my furniture painting and repurposing of “jonque” (junk looks so much better in French) that I want everyone else who is a painter of stuff to have the chance to learn what I’ve learned. But there can only be one winner . . . THIS time!

So . . . drum roll please . . . Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr . . .

The winner of the Farragoz Painting Course  is JUDY!

Congratulations Judy. Farragoz will be contacting you via email today to get you started.

Now . . . since I want everyone to feel special do I have a consolation prize for the rest of you?  Stay tuned for my next post.

Farragoz Course Clock Face

This is the Clock Face from Module 2 which I created using inexpensive homemade paints made of the same natural products that were used centuries ago.

Farragoz Course Clock Face

It is worn and chippy (love this) and the gold details shine!

Farragoz Course Icon

This is the icon I made in Module 1.  I surprised even myself with how well it turned out!  I am a painter of walls and furniture but have never been a painter of canvas art.

Enough said.  One last chance to enter below by filling out the Rafflecopter form.  The more boxes you can check on the form the more chances you have of winning. By entering this giveaway you are confirming that you are 18 years or over. DIY Clock Face & One Fantastic Giveaway!

January 21, 2015 by Patti 31 Comments

Farragoz clock 009

I gave you a peek at my clock face in my last post and promised to come back and share the full reveal.  I also promised a giveaway and I can hardly wait to tell you all about it!

Farragoz clock 027

Before I give away what the giveaway is though, take a look at what I created with Farragoz, the online painting course I’ve been taking this past year.

Farragoz clock 025

I’ve always wanted a large clock face for my home and what fun it was to create my own.

Farragoz clock 022

This amazing course teaches old world painting techniques with paints that you make yourself.

Farragoz clock 010

There are six modules to the course and in each one you learn to create a different project.

Farragoz Module 1 020

You may remember my first project which was this icon.  Now listen . . . I am a painter of walls . . . and furniture . . . and various other knick knacks around the house.  I am not a painter of “real” artwork.  So I must say that I amazed even myself, especially myself, with how well this turned out.  I was also surprised at how easy it was to do with the step-by-step support of the Farragoz team.

Farragoz clock 032

Each piece of art is done at your own pace, one step at a time, reporting your progress in pictures along the way.  If you have any questions a personal instructor is right there to help you and to cheer you on!

Farragoz clock 008

When I started this course I thought I might be getting myself in over my head and worried that my work wouldn’t look as good as the examples given to follow,

Farragoz clock 004

but I was assured that this is a course easy enough for a beginner, and it really is!  I also soon realized that the idea is to create something of your own making, unique to you, and not a copy of someone else’s work.

Farragoz clock 001

The paints are made of inexpensive and safe natural products and they are applied in multiple layers, then sealed, also with natural products. Once the painting was complete I was instructed in new ways of distressing my piece to give it the aged look that I love.

Farragoz Module 2 002

In this picture you can see the depth and texture the clock face has after distressing.

Farragoz Module 2 008

This picture shows texture and also the brightness of the homemade gold paint. I love a little glitz you know!

Farragoz Module 2 016

And here is one more picture taken before I added the winter touches to my clock, so you can see the distressing around the edges of the piece.

Farragoz clock 007

I think the greatest thing about the new techniques I’ve learned is that I will be able to use them on my future furniture projects.  I’ve already used some of the leftover paint from my clock face on a once hideous mirror from Goodwill.  Now I’m just trying to figure out which room I’ll hang it in so I can decide what the final color will be.  The before and after photos are going to be incredible!

Farragoz clock 026

So what about the giveaway?

I am absolutely . . . over-the-top . . . DELIGHTED to announce that Farragoz has generously offered to give away an online course to ONE of my lucky readers!   You can sign up below.  The more boxes you check the more chances you have of winning!  By entering this giveaway you are confirming that you are 18 years or over. Void where prohibited.  The contest will run through February 20th (I don’t know how I’m going to stand waiting that long to see who wins) and the winner will be announced when all of the numbers are tallied!

To Enter: Simply follow the directions on the rafflecopter form below and . . . please . . .  don’t forget to tell your friends about this fantastic giveaway!

This is not a paid post.
