A DIY Shutter Plate Rack & Something Extra

August 29, 2017 by Patti 28 Comments

I’m late, I’m late for
A very important date.
No time to say hello, good-bye,
I’m late, I’m late, I’m late

This is exactly how I feel today as I pop in to show you a cute idea for displaying plates.

This salvaged plantation shutter hung on an open spot on my kitchen wall.  Pretty simple idea, yes?

There is a trick to keeping the shutters from falling open with the weight of the plates, and that is this wrought iron piece, which is screwed to the stable middle section of the shutters, thereby holding the slats in place.

I’ve wrapped my place settings in cloth napkins, and I’m ready to set the table.

The shutter slats are also handy for hanging hand towels.

As for my “I’m late, I’m late” story?  Well you know, that’s for another post.  But I did promise you something extra today, so here it is:

A bonus picture from my backyard, because how could I not share this fabulous butterfly with y’all?  A beautiful symbol of something new.

I’m late, I’m late for
A very important date.
No time to say hello, good-bye,
I’m late, I’m late, I’m late
I’m late and when I wave,
I lose the time I save.
My fuzzy ears and whiskers
Took me too much time to shave.
I run and then I hop, hop, hop,
I wish that I could fly.
There’s danger if I dare to
Stop and here’s a reason why:
I’m over-due, I’m in a rabbit stew.
Can’t even say good-bye,
Hello, I’m late, I’m late, I’m late.

More to come in another post so you might want to check back in on Friday 😉

Blessings,

Patti: Your plate rack is a fabulous idea and it is also very pretty. Especially with the blue transfer ware plates and the blue and white napkins. Lovely, lovely !

    I love this idea Patti.
I have an old shutter that I use for special cards I can’t throw away. Looks like I will on the hunt for another shutter.

Thank you Joy. It is really one of those ideas that came out of nowhere. I didn’t even have to copy someone else! This is a rare thing for me. 😉
