The Last Sunday of August

August 30, 2015 by Patti 7 Comments

Shirley Plantation

We are beginning to feel a hint of Fall in the air, a relief to the humid heat of South Carolina.  One year has passed since we moved into our home and my feelings are all over the place today.  I love our new city and the friendships we are establishing, but I miss terribly those friends and family we left behind.

A Pastor prayed for me this past week and in his prayer he said there is no looking back at what once was but to keep looking forward to what lies ahead.  God has a plan for us that is yet to unfold.  I’m waiting and listening in the stillness today.

I hope you’ll take a moment to enjoy Sunday’s stillness too.

Blessings,

My Signature

    Patti,
In the stillness of God’s Waiting Room, I can hear Him whisper my name.
Those whom God has entrusted with many gifts, are ready and willing to use those gifts for His service,
although we may not understand His timetable.
I find myself in a similar situation.
With my health circumstances, I am unable to use one of my most enjoyable,
rewarding, and in my mind’s eye. . .best gifts for Him.
I have felt that He may be calling me into a different area of His service.
So, while I wait. . .I’m excited and yet apprehensive, at the same time.
“In His Time”. . .how the lyrics of this hymn speak to my very inner soul.
In due time, may we both find fulfillment through our service to God’s purpose.
    Fondly,
    Pat

So sweet and poignant, Patti. I’ve been there…..I know that feeling. And I know you will be able to say the same thing one of these days…..it won’t be as stinging as it at times right now. We can have all the head knowledge about God having plans for us…..but it’s something else to have the “complete” heart knowledge to go along with it! But it will come.
Romans 8:28 really is a comforting reminder. Blessings to you today, my friend.

Oh Patti, I hear those words your pastor said….I almost stated to cry. I do not want to leave my Florida past in the past…. and yet we just had such a wonderful time at a family camp this weekend with our new church family, giving me a new hope. Change is hard; life is hard; but I’m grateful to love and serve a living God who has a plan for my life far greater than I can plan.

Dear Patti, I love your honesty and willingness to be open and vulnerable with the truth. You are a strong lady to accept all the changes you’ve gone through this past year with hope and faith in our Great God! The fruit of your trials will manifest itself at the proper time. The text I hang onto is James 1 when I get the mulligrubbs (a good southern word for light depression). God bless you and your husband. Alice Cone

Hi, Patti! Missing our old friends is a normal part of the adjustment period when you’re moving out. But I’m sure everything has a purpose. And your presence in your new community is already a part of God’s plan. Just continue to be a blessing to others. 🙂

Patti: I love your name-always wished they had given me a pretty name like that.
Change is not easy but especially as we get older…As I look back and consider some of the forks in the road of life -the direction we took and those God did not allow us to take even as we cried out and prayed faithfully for…Then I see what came that we could never have dreamed of …and all in ways that meant God Got the Glory!

Your ‘personal story’ was so straight forward and simple and honest.. Thank you-I have a place to stash that story and share.
