If there is any month of the year that is underappreciated it is the month of January. The holidays have passed, the festive decorations put away, the nights are long and the days short, the temperatures can be frigid, and for some, cabin fever has set in.
I adore the month of January, especially here in SC, knowing that Spring comes early and I have plenty of warmer weather to look forward to. For me, this is the month to enjoy slowing down and taking some time to hibernate in the cozyness of my own home.
We’ve been spending a lot of time next to the fireplace in our den. The caramel wall color surrounds us with warmth (about now I’m rethinking my idea of painting it a lighter shade) as we enjoy evenings of reading, watching television or just “being”.
For winter decor throughout my house I’ve used mainly mercury glass and greenery.
I also jumped on the current pom pom bandwagon and made a small pom pom wreath for my mantle,
and miniature pom poms for a miniature tree.
I really am hoping for a little snow before the busy days of Spring burst forth.
Up next, I’ll be sharing this large clock face I created through the Farragoz online painting course. In this course (the link is on my sidebar) I’ve learned old world painting techniques using inexpensive homemade paints. Be sure to come back for that post because I’ll be having a very special GIVEAWAY!
Learning new painting techniques is so much fun and the perfect way to relax on a long wintery evening!

January is looking lovely in your neck of the woods. It is a funny month for us – hot days on the beach have actually been the norm.
I am going to check out that painting course.

I love your outlook on January! It has always been a dreary month to me because my birthday is in January and in the northeast there is nothing to do! My parties would get cancelled as a kid due to too much snow. Now I take myself shopping no matter the weather! I do look forward to decorating for winter after the holidays. I love your winter décor….look warm and cozy. Been meaning to try those pom poms too!

I especially like your tool box with the greens! – January is my least favorite month so I am always looking for ways to warm up my home! You certainly gave me some great ideas!

Patti, your winter décor is beautiful! And I do really like the warm feel of your caramel walls. I am just putting away my winter décor and pulling out Valentines, but I have enjoyed it. I too use a lot of mercury glass. Your clock looks gorgeous and I can’t wait to see! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
hugs,
Jann

You’ve done a wonderful job decorating your new house Patti. I love all you special touches like the jute wrapped around the mercury glass, the little pompom wreath and adding a boxwood wreath to your antelope head. It’s all in the details and the details are lovely! Thank you for sharing at What We Accomplished Wednesdays. Have a great weekend!
Blessings, Deborah
