Life Interrupted

May 1, 2014 by Patti 13 Comments

Reedy River Falls at Greenville, SC

How long has it been since I wrote in a post that I couldn’t believe the life I was living,in a wonderful home, a great community, with the best of friends . . .

doing the things that I love to do creatively and sharing with Mr. OTN in a wonderful ministry opportunity in our church?

But life doesn’t always stay the same.  Sometimes we find ourselves in the midst of a “Life Interruped.”

A week ago I was at home in Olympia, Washington, freshening up my laundry room with a new coat of paint.

The telephone rang and the news was received that the company Mr. OTN had applied to for a new job wanted to fly him out for an interview.

A View Down Main Street, Greenville, SC

Today I am in beautiful Greenville, S C. and wondering where life might be taking us next.

We flew out of SeaTac Monday night, arrived here early Tuesday morning, picked up a car, and headed to our hotel where we requested an early check in.

Minutes later, there was Mr. OTN, quickly freshening up while I pressed the suit bag creases out of his new white shirt and helped him decide whether it would be the blue tie or the red tie.  Then off to an all day interview!

The Arch Waterfall at Greenville, S C

This is one gorgeous city!

Great shopping, fine dining and plenty of coffee shops.  Do you know they even have a Coffee Street?  VERY important to this Seattle girl.

Museums, theater, jazz and blues.

Some of the friendliest people on God’s green earth . . . even nice enough to humor me when I tried to get them to say they liked my Seahawks!

Downtown Greenville

The red “power tie” did it’s job, bringing forth the offer of the job.

And we’ve been “sleeping on it” for two nights.

One more day here to explore a bit more and then back home tomorrow.

We are having some very strong feelings about what we should do but the decision isn’t final yet.

Life interrupted for a week . . . or possibly for much, much longer . . .

Prayers appreciated today.

Blessings,

My Signature-001

Dear Patti~~~~My step daughter & her husband live in Greenville & they love it ! They relocated there from Gainsville, Ga almost a year ago. She works at Redemption church & is the production director ( it’s a big church! ). It would definitely be a big change for you~~~but maybe a pleasant one. My prayers are with you. I know how I would feel & I imagine your husband is going through a lot in his mind. The Lord will help you make the right decision.

I’ll be praying for you and your hubby, Patti! Sometimes these decision are quick and easy, but other times you need to make a list of pros and cons. We had a similar decision to make 2 1/2 years ago when we moved from Long Island to Ohio.

Mixed feelings on this. I will surely miss you as will all who know you here in the north west. You will be a blessing and be blessed wherever you end up.

Hi Patti, this post has brought tears to my eyes! My prayers for you were that there would not be a “choice”. That if the job is his and God has a new assignment for you, that the job would be offered to him. So, if that is the direction you are feeling in your heart, just make sure you and Kelly are in agreement. God will do the rest! Such a great adventure in life when we commit or ways to Christ Jesus and His well for or lives. If you are having negative questions on this decision, please text me. I’ll help you through it and know how to better pray.

Oh, Patti! Bless your hearts….sometimes these life interruptions are fun and other times downright scary. The good thing is, you really liked the area. The bad thing is, creating a new lifestsyle in a new place. It can be hard to teach an old dog new tricks….not that you’re old…. :))….but it can be difficult when we are settled.

I feel for you, because my husband is needing to find another job; one we can live with as we know it will require him to work away from home. Maybe for weeks at a time. He is a railroad mechanic, and his job is phasing out as the company is closing it’s rail division. He will turn 58 this year. Not old, but no longer a young man who once upon a time was more easily adaptable to this sort of change.

So, even though we won’t have to move, I understand some of the things you are going through. But you have an amazing support system. You have amazing faith. And with your strong marriage, and faith and support, you will be able do whatever it is that God is asking of you. Remember, He said, Fear Not, I am with you always….

Love and best wishes to you

    Sharon

I can’t imagine moving to a new city at this stage of my life. It does look like a beautiful area. I will be praying about your decision. God knows what he has for you, and if it is to move, it will be a new adventure!

I want to thank you also for praying for my parents. They are fine, but just have a lot to deal with making calls to insurance companies, doctors (all their medicines and mom’s nebulizer and dad’s heart monitor were also stolen), banks etc. Plus they have to get all their stuff (what’s left of it!) unpacked. They will have to shop for so many things including most of their clothes were stolen! I helped with what I could yesterday. Thanks again for stopping by. Have a lovely week!
    Blessings, Deborah
