Spring in my Front Yard

June 7, 2013 by Patti 13 Comments

Welcome to my front yard where Spring is the most beautiful time of the year. Many of the Spring blooms have begun to fade now that the warmer weather is trying to come out in the PacNW.  Below are some pictures I took in May, when the flowers were in their full glory!
Rhododendrons are the Washington State flower and we’re thankful to the previous owner of our home for planting several bushes which are now fairly good sized.
Our front yard has a lot of sprawling bushes and ground covers. I’m rather fond of the informal and overflowing look and so are the birds!
Lilacs are one of my favorite flowers in the garden.

Below is my pond area. It is overhung by a large old apple tree with plenty of  feeders so we can enjoy watching the birds eat and splash in the bubbling fountain.

Thanks so much for taking the time to walk with me through my garden today.

     Blessings,

Gorgeous! I love the overflowing, natural look of your plantings. We had a ton of rhododendrons that were overgrown and out of control that got removed this spring, but I’m glad we kept a couple. Yours are just lovely! Most folks in my area have the purple-pink colored ones, but you have a great variety of different colors – love it. 🙂

(BTW, what is the red plant that looks very much like a Japanese maple?)

Stopping by from DIY by Design!

Wow! Patti, these are gorgeous Rhododendrons! I didn’t know it was the state flower of Washington – cool. It has been several weeks since they bloomed here – love seeing yours I appreciate you sharing with Home and Garden Thursday,

Looking at those flowers, it makes me wish that spring was a year-round season. The variety of colors makes for a very beautiful yard. And I like the fact that there’s a little area where you can sit in the middle and admire it all. –Matt @ Meridian Landscaping
