Inspired in Seattle – Part 1!

February 11, 2013 by Patti 23 Comments

A couple of weeks ago my husband was nice enough to say “yes” to my request for a girl’s getaway, while he stayed at home and slaved away to pay the bills.  In case you didn’t see my last post, he really is a “Hey Girl” kinda guy. Check it out! I felt a little bad about the whole thing but quickly justified it by bringing my camera along to take pictures for the blog! That’s working right?

So, my friend Deanna J. and I took a three-day trip into Seattle. She loves home decorating as much as I do so it was fun for both of us to check out several locally owned stores.  I’ve broken our trip down into parts due to all the pictures I ended up taking. I don’t want you to miss out on any necessary eye candy!  Each of the highlighted businesses has a slightly different ambiance, and different objects to inspire.

Our first stop was Heartland Interiors at Country Village in Bothell, a suburb northeast of Seattle.  It was a visual delight from the moment we walked in the front door.
This shop is filled to the brim with beautiful things for the home, as well as offering full interior design services.  They have been in business now for 27 years!  I’ll begin with a few close-ups of some of the lovely items they sell:

Look at this nice use of  vintage-looking jewelry on bottles and vases. Who doesn’t have a plain old vase that could use a little dressing up?
I love this sweet little moss-covered bird and the old books she has chosen as her perch.
What a beautiful vintage graphic on this pillar candle.  I’m seeing crowns everywhere lately.
Here is some unique candle “jewelry” with a pin on the back for attaching to your own pillar candles.
The designers in this store have put together some really stunning vignettes.  Inspiration to change things up a bit at home for a new season!

Cupid is out in anticipation of Valentine’s Day and sitting on a stack of books covered with old postcard graphics. Notice the rusty wire with the silver beads? I ended up buying some for my cloche displays.
A grouping of mirrors always look so lovely. I’m on the search now for different shaped mirrors for my bedroom.
Some of my favorite colors together are turquoise and moss green.
Not sure about the guy in the animal print scarf but I do like his jewelry. This store sells some really NICE jewelry and my friend Deanna succumbed to a couple of purchases. And look. . . another crown! Hmmm . . . how how could I make one of those?

I took several pictures of lampshades as I have some shades at home that I want to do something with myself.

Heartland Interiors carries gorgeous pieces of furniture and accepts custom upholstery orders.  Isn’t this upholstered headboard amazing?

Painted furniture continues to be very popular and I like the addition of embellishments on this painted cabinet.

The graphic print on this traditional wing chair sure gives it a more modern feel . . .and the pillow . . . I want one!
So one last picture, zoomed out so you can get a feel for the traditional elegance this store has to offer.
To see more of this fabulous store click on the link:
Heartland Interiors
and be sure to pay them a visit the next time you are in the Seattle area.

Now be sure to come back for Part 2. The next store we visited is run by several local artisans. Inspiration galore awaits you!

      Be blessed,

It was fun Rosemary. At the end of the three days I said I wished I could be a “where to shop” writer and get paid for it!

It does indeed. Seattle has really “grown up” over the years. A great destination place for sure.

Now that’s the most fun I’ve had in two days. What great vignettes and pictures. I ordered a moss bird and it came in the mail a few days ago…love the one above. Makes this girl want to travel west. Shopping with you would be beyond fun.

Patti, what a fun place. I have a moss covered bird just like that and I love it! Your hubby sounds like a keeper. Mine is the same! Last July he let me take three of my girlfriends on a week long road trip to Oregon. We even stayed in one of our vacation resorts with no cost to them. We had a ball and found some fun things. Thanks for sharing with Share Your Cup.
    hugs,
    Jann
