Oh my . . here we are loading up on coffee before heading out for a day of garage saling. My friend Carol kept telling me she didn’t look good in pictures but I assured her that neither did I, and besides, we HAD to have our pictures in a blog about two friends gone shopping! Of course, we both look far more beautiful than we appear.
Carol and I had been looking forward to this for months, a whole day for us to shop while our husbands were off fishing. When the day dawned however, it was to be the hottest day of the summer yet and my husband decided the fish wouldn’t be biting, so the guys came along with us (at least as far as our first two stops). A good thing for us as my husband handled the camera.
This was one of our stops, a yearly event I’m told, held in a large barn. How intriguing is that?
Of course, my husband couldn’t pass up a shot of the barn dog!
Since this was our second stop of the day and we were a wee bit late getting started to begin with, I am pretty sure we missed out on some real treasures. There were a lot of antique and vintage items and the prices were great. One of the women running the sale said that people came early and carried away “loads” of stuff. I will be putting this sale on my radar for a first stop next year for sure!
Carol was really looking for something that she could try chalk paint on. Here we are looking at a cute little shelving unit. You can see my hands describing to her how lovely this would be in her bathroom, painted in the color Old White. With her love for all things beachy she could decorate the shelves with some hand towels and little soaps, some glass containers filled with cotton balls and bath salts, and of course, a collection of seashells. Isn’t this looking beautiful to the mind’s eye already? The carving on top this piece even looks sort of like a shell, which she can highlight with a little turquoise or grey colored paint.
Oh look, one of the legs is a little wobbly. That should mean a discounted price! She was a little hesitant to ask but she did, and she got it for a steal! This shelf is going to be so darling when she is done with it. We’ll definitely follow-up with another post.
We were on a mission for Carol but . . . before we go . . . is there anything I just have to have? Uh, no, probably not. My garages are already overflowing with projects to be tackled! In my next post I think I’ll talk about the “junk” we hide behind closed doors. I may even open up some of my doors to you all. Until then, be blessed.
